What will I be doing?

Packed with a range of amazing activities on land, rock and water our courses are full of exciting activities that get you out and about.

Depending on the course you take, you could get the chance to take part in an archaeological dig, rummage in a rock pool, write and perform your own song or fire a Saxon long bow.

Test yourself and learn new skills as you try activities such as building a siege engine, orienteering, gorge scrambling, panning for gems or the high ropes course.

Where will I be staying?

There are YHA centres all over England and Wales. They are all very different, some are new, modern buildings and others are old mansions or castles. You could be staying in a busy city, a small village in the countryside or even somewhere more remote.

You'll sleep in your own bunk bed in a room, probably with about six of your friends, with a bathroom either close-by or en-suite.

Most centres also have a dining room, TV lounge, a small shop, a garden and a games room, which might have a pool table, table football or arcade games.

What do I need to pack?

We supply duvets, pillows and bed linen, but you will need to remember to bring your own towel. Your group leader will supply you with a list of all the other things you need to bring, however, please remember not to pack anything you wouldn't want to get dirty, broken or lost. Items such as mobile phones, watches and jewellery should be left at home.

Do I need to bring any money?

Your group leader will let you know if you need to bring extra spending money. However, as most centres have a shop and/or a vending machine you might want to bring a small amount of money to buy souvenirs or snacks.
